This pot won third prize in the Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup, N.M. 2000. It is exquisite work made by Carol Vigil. It measures: 5-1/2 in. diameter and 5-1/4 in. tall.|
Carol Vigil was born in Jemez on March 18, 1960 and was taught by her grandmother how to fashion wonderful works of art out of clay. She is an exceptional potter, whose work is widely collected. She has adapted the dense, complex patterns usually associated with Acoma Pueblo in a contemporary way. Scratching them out of a layer of stone-polished clay slip, she adds a 3-dimensional feel.
